"The new branch will strengthen SPD Bank's five brands: green investment banking, sci-tech innovation finance, cross-border finance, private banking, and new citizen services. It will also improve the quality and effectiveness of the bank's financial services, and help promote the high-quality development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area," said the head of the new branch.

Tianhe has been focused on creating an optimal financial service system by building high-quality development platforms, gathering leading financial institutions, and innovating financial ecology.

It now has also gathered three financial trading platforms, namely the Shanghai Stock Exchange's southern center, the Guangzhou Futures Exchange, and the China Securities Internet System's southern headquarters. It has also attracted four financial institutes like the Guangzhou Institute of Digital Finance Innovation, and is home to 245 licensed financial institutions.

In 2022, the added value of the finance industry in Tianhe hit 126.51 billion yuan ($17.56 billion), accounting for half of Guangzhou's total and ranking first in the city for the eighth consecutive year.
