Guangzhou's Tianhe district has been systematically promoting the construction of a four-tier park system, which includes ecological parks, urban parks, community parks and pocket parks, to create a pleasant living environment.

Idle and abandoned buildings in parks across Tianhe were transformed into artistic places. The former ice rink at the south gate of Tianhe Park was changed into the Tianhe Art Space, becoming a modern sculpture-themed artistic area.

"After the transformation, Tianhe Park has gained popularity," said Mr Liang, who lives nearby and takes walks in the park after dinner. The newly built jogging track also allows people to enjoy a healthier lifestyle.

Along with the Huolu Mountain, Longyandong, and Fenghuang Mountain forest parks, the South China National Botanical Garden will also help build Tianhe into park city.

Built in 1929, this is the largest subtropical botanical garden in China, and it is also China's second national botanical garden. It boasts a conservation exhibition area of 283 hectares and preserves over 17,000 species of plants.

"The botanical garden is not only a good place for sightseeing and leisure, but it is also a great place for the public to learn more about plants and biodiversity," said Ms Wu, who often takes her child here.

The district plans to accelerate the construction of pocket parks to meet the leisure needs of the public. So far, 14 pocket parks have been built in Zhujiang New Area.

"Finally, there is a place where I can take a walk, chat and dance. After the small park was built, I have exercised every day," said Mrs Liao, who lives in Kemulang village. The newly built community park boasts an area of 1,900 square meters as well as a good natural environment.
