Guangzhou's Tianhe district recently launched its plan for landscaping and transportation during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25).

According to the plan, Tianhe will create an urban ecological environment that embodies the "a park in the urban area, an urban area in the park" concept. It will be fully built into an integrated transportation hub in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area by 2035, becoming a model urban area for landscaping and transportation development.

The district plans to build a "1+3+N" urban garden integrated system. By 2025, the system's core, the South China National Botanical Garden, will finish construction. Construction on several ecological science popularization and education sites and the second batch of pocket parks will also be accelerated in the district.

Additionally, the "two rings, five corridors, and multiple gardens" ecological network will be improved in the district. The "two rings" refers to building a Tianhe city ring that links the district's major green spaces and functional areas, as well as creating a forest park ring centered on Huolu, Longyandong, and Fenghuang mountains.

Five high-quality ecological corridors will be constructed along the Liede, Chebei, Shahe, Shechong, and Tangxia rivers, while a four-tier park system will be built in the district, featuring ecological parks, urban parks, community parks and pocket parks.

Tianhe will finish construction on the Guangzhou South Railway Station-Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport section of the Guangzhou-Foshan Intercity Rail. It will also advance construction of the Tianhe sections of the Guangzhou Metro Line 11, 18, 10, as well as the second-phase of Metro Line 13. A total of 18 new railway stations will be built in Tianhe during this period.

By 2025, the district plans to newly build five public transportation terminals, which will cover a total area of nearly 3,500 square meters.
