Tianhe's GDP grows 2.8% in Q1

The regional GDP of Tianhe district in Guangzhou saw a year-on-year growth of 2.8 percent from January to March, and now sits at 157.76 billion yuan ($22.77 billion).

The added value of Tianhe's primary industry was 558.6 million yuan, up 23.1 percent year-on-year, while that of its secondary industry was 8.9 billion yuan, down 2.2 percent. The added value of the district's tertiary industry was 148.8 billion yuan, up 3.1 percent.

From January to March, Tianhe's total output value for industrial enterprises above designated size reached 21.73 billion yuan, down 0.7 percent year-on-year. Enterprises above a designated size refer to those that has an annual operating revenue over 20 million yuan.

Revenue from Tianhe's general public budget totaled 1.96 billion yuan in the first quarter, an increase of 0.79 percent. In addition, the district's total retail sales of consumer goods reached 56.27 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 3.4 percent.
