The park opened to the public in 2000. By digging lakes and piling up into mountains, the park comprises eight main areas including its sweet-scented osmanthus garden and palm garden.
It also won the 2005 Lingnan Characteristic Garden design gold medal from the Ministry of Construction, since renamed the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development.
