Tianhe to further support HK, Macao youth innovation

Guangzhou's Tianhe district is seeking public opinions on its latest preferential measures supporting the innovation and entrepreneurship of Hong Kong and Macao youth in the district.

A maximum of 1 million yuan ($145,400) will be arranged annually for the construction of the Hong Kong and Macao Youth Home in Tianhe, providing Hong Kong and Macao youths with services in establishing businesses, entrepreneurship guidance, investment and financing, venue rental, license handling, legal aid, living services, children's education, as well as business exchanges.

Enterprises established by Hong Kong and Macao youths, which obtain a bank loan or a venture capital investment from Tianhe, will be granted a one-time subsidy of 5 percent of their actually received fund, with the maximum amount of 100,000 yuan.

Hong Kong and Macao youths' projects that settle in Tianhe's incubation bases and have operated for over one year after being registered can receive a one-time rent subsidy of 50 percent of their actually paid venue rental amount, with a maximum of 50,000 yuan available for each project.

Enterprises by Hong Kong and Macao youths can receive a one-time award of 500,000 yuan if they are listed as a national "little giant" enterprise for the first time or as a provincial manufacturing single champion enterprise.

"Little giant" enterprises refer to those specializing in niche industries with cutting-edge technologies and great growth potential.

A maximum of 800,000 yuan will be used annually to set up Tianhe service centers at the entrepreneurship incubation bases in Hong Kong and Macao, while a maximum of 500,000 yuan will be arranged to construct communities for Hong Kong and Macao people.

Hong Kong and Macao youths who work for over one year in the enterprises at the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Guangdong) Innovation and Entrepreneurship Incubation Base can receive an annual transportation allowance of 3,000 yuan each for two years. Those who meet the aforementioned requirements and get the Hong Kong or Macao registered qualification certificate can get a one-time subsidy of 50,000 yuan.
