The top 10 livelihood projects of Guangzhou's Tianhe district in 2023 were determined by votes at the third session of the 10th Tianhe District People's Congress on March 3.

This year, Tianhe will build about 27 kilometers of non-motor vehicle lanes on Chebei Road, Xiancun Road, and Jinsui Road to make life more convenient for people using other forms of transport.

The district will advance the upgrading and transformation of Tianhe District People's Hospital, Tianhe District Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, and Tianhe District Women and Children's Hospital. Construction of the rehabilitation center at the Tianhe District People's Hospital will also get underway this year, while the phase-1 renovation of the medical care building at Tianhe District Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital will be completed before year's end.

Construction and expansion of six middle and primary schools in Tianhe will be finished in 2023, adding 5,000 new spots for students. Two public kindergartens will be opened in the district, creating an additional 300 places for students to enroll.

Measures will be launched to ensure that more than 45,000 new jobs will be created in Tianhe this year. Targeted employment and entrepreneurship guidance services will be provided for college graduates, and over 100 job fairs will be organized for college graduates.

More than 17,000 permanent residents aged 65 and above will be vaccinated with the 23-valent pneumococcal vaccine free of charge.

A total of 10,000 government-subsidized rental housing units will be prepared to solve housing problems for new citizens and young people.

In 2023, the district will promote the quick inspection of edible agricultural products in farmers' markets and large supermarkets, and carry out quick inspections at the headquarter warehouses of edible agricultural products chain enterprises, online distribution platforms for prepared food, and canteens of enterprises and public institutions with over 1,000 employees.

The aging gas pipelines at Tangde Huayuan community will be updated and renovated, and 9,303 meters of buried gas pipelines will be installed.

Along the Chebei, Tangxia, and Shenyong rivers, greenways spanning a total of 7 km will be built this year.

Ground will also be broken on construction of the new campus of Tianhe's Children's Palace, which will be developed as a social education headquarters base for teenagers in Tianhe.
