The GDP of Guangzhou's Tianhe district reached 621.57 billion yuan ($91.57 billion) in 2022, a year-on-year increase of 2.4 percent.

The added value of its primary industry was 258 million yuan, up 20.5 percent, while that of its secondary industry was 44.73 billion yuan, down 0.4 percent. Meanwhile, its tertiary industry totaled 576.58 billion yuan, up 2.6 percent.

The five leading industries in Tianhe, namely finance, new-generation information technology, modern business, high-end professional services, and modern urban industries, realized an added value of 429.9 billion yuan. This shows an increase of 3.7 percent, and accounts for nearly 70 percent of the district's GDP.

Revenue from the scientific research and technical service industry rose by 3.8 percent, and its total commodity sales increased by 4.8 percent. The output value of industrial enterprises above designated size grew by 0.5 percent.

Last year, there were 82,500 newly established enterprises in Tianhe, accounting for 29.1 percent of Guangzhou's total. Tianhe also saw 1,029 new enterprises above designated size, making up 16.4 percent of the city's total.

The district also introduced 17 licensed financial institutions and 152 key projects, of which three will have revenue of over 10 billion yuan and another 13 have been invested in by Global Fortune 500 companies. Two Tianhe-based enterprises also became newly listed in 2022.

Over 20,000 technology enterprises were newly established in Tianhe in 2022, accounting for 35.7 percent of Guangzhou's total, and 3,293 enterprises were placed into the national technology SME database, accounting for 19.7 percent of the city's total. In addition, five companies were listed among China's top 100 internet enterprises in 2022.

The 131 key construction projects under the supervision of Tianhe finished a total investment of 28.22 billion yuan last year, completing 115.6 percent of their annual target.

Guangzhou International Financial City achieved an investment of 15.05 billion yuan in projects, up 23.3 percent, while Tianhe Smart City completed a project investment of 5.94 billion yuan.

The Tianhe Road Business Circle was included in the first batch of 12 national demonstrative smart business circles last year. So far, it introduced 56 first stores and 27 international brand stores to the district.
