The GDP of Guangzhou's Tianhe district reached 621.57 billion yuan ($91.57 billion) in 2022, a year-on-year increase of 2.4 percent, said Chen Jiameng, the district's Party secretary, at the district's high-quality development conference on Feb 6.
This was the 16th consecutive year that the district ranked first in Guangzhou in terms of GDP.

Tianhe also ranked second among the top 100 Chinese districts in 2022, according to a report from CCID Consulting, and was recognized as one of the happiest cities of China at the 2022 Happy Cities of China Forum.
The added value of the modern service industry, which is led by finance, new-generation information technology, high-end professional services, and modern business, accounted for 71.6 percent of the district's GDP. The four leading industries have contributed more than 80 percent to Tianhe’s GDP growth in the past three years, Chen added.
The total number of enterprises in Tianhe continued to maintain an average annual growth rate of more than 20 percent, Chen noted. In 2022, over 83,000 enterprises were newly established in the district, with the total number of enterprises reaching 511,000, making up for 26.7 percent of Guangzhou's total.
In addition, three projects with an estimated revenue of over 10 billion yuan settled in Tianhe last year, as well as 13 projects invested in by Global Fortune 500 companies. The 104 city-level key projects led to a fixed-asset investment of over 58 billion yuan.
