Guangzhou sees tourism boom during holiday
Traditional Spring Festival market fairs in Guangzhou were hugely popular during the Chinese New Year holiday, receiving nearly 3.93 million consumers and generating 144 million yuan ($21.33 million) in sales, an increase of 19.3 percent compared to 2019 totals.

Attracted by the flower fairs, as well as various cultural and tourism activities, many people from outside Guangzhou also visited the city during the seven-day Spring Festival holiday, which lasted from Jan 21 to 27. On Jan 21 alone, Tianhe's Zhujiang Park received 10,672 visitors and over 40,000 people visited Guangzhou Zoo, nearly nine times more than last year.

In the Tianhe Road Business Circle, various activities helped attract consumers, with the consumer flow at Grandview Plaza during the Spring Festival posting double-digit growth year-on-year.

In addition, Guangzhou's catering industry saw a boost during this year's Spring Festival, posting a 31 percent increase in turnover compared with the same period in 2022.
