Tianhe district in Guangzhou recently launched its plan to build itself into a national ecological civilization construction demonstration zone by 2035.

According to the plan, 35 key construction projects will be promoted in Tianhe, building a green belt of parks connecting Guangzhou International Financial City and Tianhe Smart City to create a model that expresses the harmonious coexistence between mankind and nature.

The plan is divided into two stages. In the 2022-25 term, Tianhe will strive not only to become a national ecological civilization construction demonstration zone, but to also become a core functional hub, and a pioneer in the high-quality development in the modern service industry. Tianhe plans to showcase advanced socialist culture, and become a model environment for modern international business.

Between 2026 and 2035, the district will have all the indicators of an ecological civilization construction demonstration zone that is better than the current national assessment standards.

In addition, Tianhe will advance the establishment of a four-tier system of ecological parks, urban parks, community parks, and pocket parks, building itself into a garden city.

The district will promote the deep integration of emerging technologies such as the internet of things, big data, artificial intelligence and 5G with green and low-carbon industries. It will build a green manufacturing system and service system.

Ecological tourism will also be promoted in Tianhe during this period. Focusing on the Huolu Mountain, Longyandong, and Fenghuang Mountain forest parks, the district will boost the high-quality development of mountain recreation tourism. It will create a "sports + tourism" reputation by relying on events like the Guangzhou Marathon and the International Vertical Marathon Open.
