Tianhe supports HK, Macao youth achieve innovation, entrepreneurship goals
Guangzhou's Tianhe district has clustered 2,091 Hong Kong and Macao-funded enterprises, with a total investment volume of $8.65 billion, local media outlets reported on Nov 9.
The number of innovation and entrepreneurship bases for Hong Kong and Macao youth in Tianhe currently stands at 14, with five of them winning the National Makerspace title, while three others have been granted the title of Guangdong-Hong Kong Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Base by the Guangdong and Hong Kong governments.
As of now, Tianhe bases have clustered 421 projects and cultivated eight enterprises with an estimated value of more than 100 million yuan ($14 million).
The district has launched a series of preferential policies to support young Hong Kong and Macao people in carrying out innovation and entrepreneurship. Those under the age of 45 are now eligible for the allocation of Tianhe talent apartments. As of the end of 2021, 58 young Hong Kong and Macao people have succeeded in applying for such apartments.
The district has also launched internship projects for young Hong Kong and Macao people, attracting more than 4,000 attendees. It has now also recognized three occupations of Hong Kong and 23 of Macao.
