Tianhe designated as pilot zone for Innovation China initiative
Guangzhou's Tianhe district was recently listed as a city-level pilot zone for the hub city construction of the Innovation China initiative, while its Greater Bay Area Scientific and Technological Innovation Service Center and the Guangdong Hongtai Intelligent Valley Technology Business Incubator were designated city-level pilot industrial parks.
Innovation China is a major initiative of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) and is designed to integrate technological advances with economic development.

In recent years, Tianhe has launched a series of policies and gathered rich resources to provide all-round support and services for enterprises and talents, attracting and cultivating a large number of scientific and technological innovation enterprises.
As of now, there are 122,300 technology enterprises and 2,995 high-tech companies in Tianhe, with the district ranking first in Guangzhou in terms of number of granted patents for 19 consecutive years. There are also 225 incubators and maker spaces in the district, of which 32 are desginated national level ones.
Five enterprises from the district were among China's top 100 internet companies in 2021, accounting for 55 percent of the city's total, while four made the list of China's top 100 new technology companies, making up for 80 percent of the city's total.
The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Guangdong) Innovation and Entrepreneurship Incubation Base was put into use in the district, while the Guangdong branch of the China Academy of Industrial Internet has also settled here.
