A conference focusing on the work summary of the 2021 academic year and the work arrangement of the 2022 academic year was carried out in Guangzhou's Tianhe district on Aug 11.

Construction of educational projects was advanced in Tianhe in the 2021 academic year. The second phase campus of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area School of the Tsinghua University High School has been approved to be established, while Tianhe Foreign Language School's new campus in Tianhe IBD has completed site selection.

Five new kindergartens at the district level and six standardized kindergartens were newly established in Tianhe in the 2021 academic year. Relying on East China Normal University, the district carried out the "basic education curriculum and teaching quality improvement project," while the "college entrance examination paper research" was done with the support of South China Normal University, with over 3,100 students in the district's public high schools admitted into the undergraduate class this year. It also established the district special education guidance center to promote the construction of courses and individualized education services in special schools.

The district invested 3.75 million yuan ($554,000) of financial funds to advance openness and equity in education, as well as provided nearly 5 million yuan worth of social donations of materials and 675,000 yuan in consumption poverty alleviation measures, benefiting over 100,000 students.

In the 2022 academic year, the district will add no less than 8,000 places for students, as well as promote 11 new school construction and old school expansion projects.
