The 2022 Guangzhou Qiqiao Cultural Festival will take place from July 30 to Aug 5, with the main venue located in Zhucun village of Tianhe district, as well as branch venues set up at Canton Tower, Flower City Square, and South China National Botanical Garden.

The Qiqiao Festival (Begging for Skills Festival), also known as Qixi Festival, is Chinese Valentine's Day. It originated in the Han Dynasty (202 BC-AD 220), and a whole host of related customs have gradually taken shape since then.

Having been held for 17 consecutive years, the Qiqiao Cultural Festival is an annual folk culture event in Guangzhou. This year's event will focus on the protection and planning of Zhucun being a famous historical and cultural village, the construction of the South China National Botanical Garden, as well as the metaverse concept.

Seven series of activities will be carried out, such as the launching of the Metaverse Digital Qiqiao Culture Museum, traditional folk Qiqiao activities, exhibitions, fashion markets, and concerts.
