New international school opens in Guangzhou
On June 30, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS) received approval from Guangzhou Education Bureau to establish its first international school in the city's Baiyun District.
Opening its doors in the autumn of 2022, the international school is enrolling pupils from Year 1 to 7, which translates to students 6 to 12 years old.
The curriculum will adopt an integration system of "national basic courses + international courses + school-based courses". It combines both Chinese and foreign advantages, and will offer multilingual elective courses.
Each class will have no more than 26 students, so that teachers can keep a watchful eye on children.
The president of the school is Professor Liu Jianda, vice president of GDUFS and doctoral supervisor. And the vice president is Peng Zhenzhu, a full scholarship doctor from the University of Queensland in Australia. She also holds a double master's degree from GDUFS and the University of Portsmouth in the UK.
In terms of teaching staff, the school's most foreign teachers have obtained teaching qualifications of the USA and Canada, as well as A-Level course teaching qualifications. While Chinese teachers hold TESOL (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages), and are proficient in bilingual teaching of Chinese, mathematics, science and Chinese culture.
According to the school, it is committed to cultivating future youth leaders and lifelong learners with healthy personality, professional quality, international vision, and innovative mind.
