The Guangzhou Xianlie East Road Education Group was established in Tianhe district on July 6, which has six member schools, centering around Tianhe's Xianlie East Road Primary School.

The establishment of the new type of education group is an example of Tianhe promoting the balanced and high-quality development of basic education in the district, said Wu Yingmin, education consultant of Tianhe district.

Wu add that it is also a major measure to promote the high-quality development of Tianhe, build an educationally strong district, and bolster public satisfaction in education.

A council will be held every month to exchange information among the schools, said Qu Ying, director of the education group. Key teachers will also be selected to set up four departments for teaching research, moral education activities, course development, and student development.

Xianlie East Road Primary School was established in September 1964, and is one of the first batch of provincial-level first-class schools in Tianhe district. It has won nearly 1,000 honors at the national, provincial, and municipal levels.

The six member schools of the education group are Gaotangshi Primary School, Longgang Road Primary School, Shahe Primary School, Sihai Primary School, Yinhe Elementary School, as well as Zhiyuan Elementary School.

To date, there are five education groups in Tianhe, which involve a total of 25 schools, 40 campuses, and 46,950 students.
