Guangzhou's Tianhe district donated 1.6 million yuan ($238,000) to Qingyuan's Lianshan Zhuang and Yao autonomous county after the counterpart assistance agreement was signed between the two sides on June 10 and 11.

Tianhe has been helping Lianshan improve its people's livelihood efforts, boosting its education development and advancing its rural revitalization efforts.

The drinking water project in the Jiatian area of Xiaosanjiang town in Lianshan was fully funded by Tianhe, and started construction in February 2021. The first phase of the project was completed and put into use at the end of December, with an investment of about 8 million yuan that covered construction of the dam, water purification facilities, and supporting facilities for the water purification plant, as well as pipeline installation. It has solved the drinking water problems for 6,500 people in 15 natural villages.

The Taibao Town Central Kindergarten was rebuilt in October 2020, with an investment of 25 million yuan, of which 19.34 million yuan was provided by Guangzhou, Tianhe district, and the Guangzhou Counterpart Assistance Qingyuan headquarters.

The Lianshan Ethnic Primary School was put into use in August 2015, with the Guangzhou municipal government investing 15 million yuan, as well as the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education and the Ethnic and Religious Affairs Commission of Guangdong Province providing 5 million yuan respectively. For this project, the Guangzhou Counterpart Assistance Tianhe district working group helped provide all of the equipment and facilities.
