A museum has been built in Tianhe's Juanma ("silk and flax" in Chinese) community on the former site of the Guangzhou Silk and Flax Textile Mill, invoking people's memories of the past.

The textile mill was built in 1956, and had more than 5,000 employees at its peak. Its products like spun silk, silk fabric, as well as ramie yarn had been popular at home and abroad.

Collections at the museum are all from staff who worked in the textile mill and have been living in the community for many years, including products of the mill, enameled cups, toweling coverlets, certificates of honor, and old photos. The pair of stone lions at the museum gate were the ones at the mill's gate, dating back to 1985.

The museum has not only become a place for the mill's former workers to reminisce about their shared memories, but also a favorite gathering place for seniors in the community. A sub-district-level home-based senior care service center has also been built here.
