The draft of the 14th Five-Year Plan for the Development of Education in Tianhe District (2021-25) was released on March 25 and is soliciting public opinions until April 25.

According to the plan, Tianhe will build two primary schools, as well as four combined junior and senior high schools. It will also expand and renovate four middle and primary schools, as well as transfer and receive six residential area supporting schools, adding capacity for more than 28,000 students. Three educational groups at or above the provincial level will also be established to summarize and promote the "Tianhe experience."

The district will form characteristic brands in the cultivation of top-notch innovative talents, as well as build two to three brand high schools with influence in Guangdong province and the whole country.

It will also promote the transformation and upgrading of private schools, as well as standardize the scale and enrollment of privately-run schools. One special education school will be built to offer more educational opportunities to the disabled.

In addition, Tianhe will build a teaching reform pilot zone based on information technology, establish a student and teacher development information platform based on big data, as well as set up artificial intelligence courses in compulsory education.

The district will also strengthen cooperation and exchanges with Hong Kong and Macao, as well as establish sister school relationships with counterparts in Hong Kong and Macao.
