6 Tianhe units rated as national educational bases
The first batch of national science educational bases for the 2021-25 period was published by the China Association for Science and Technology on Feb 7. A total of 25 units from Guangzhou made the list, of which six are from Tianhe district.
The six Tianhe units are the South China Garden, the Guangdong Academy of Forestry, the Guangdong Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the Guangzhou Meteorological Satellite Ground station, the Grandview Polar Ocean World, and the Pearl River Water Resources Scientific Experimental Base of the Pearl River Water Resources Research Institute.
Red and yellow cypresses bring much vitality to the South China Garden in winter. The garden dates back to an agricultural and forestry plant research institute built by Chinese botanist Chun Woon-Young (1890-1971) in 1929. It is also a national 4A-level scenic spot.
