Tianhe's GDP rises by 8.2% in 2021

The GDP of Tianhe district in 2021 saw a year-on-year increase of 8.2 percent to 601.22 billion yuan ($94.62 billion), accounting for 21.3 percent of Guangzhou's total and making Tianhe the only district in Guangzhou to have a GDP of over 600 billion yuan.

The added value of the district's primary industry was 200 million yuan, increasing by 0.2 percent year on year, while that of the secondary industry grew by 5.5 percent to 44.78 billion yuan. The added value of the tertiary industry reached 556.24 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 8.5 percent.

The industrial output value of enterprises above designated size in 2021 totaled 93.83 billion yuan, increasing by 8.6 percent year–on-year, while the total retail sales of consumer goods reached 205.06 billion yuan, increasing by 15.1 percent and making Tianhe the only district in Guangzhou to surpass 200 billion yuan in annual retail sales of consumer goods.

By the end of 2021, the number of enterprises in Tianhe was 485,500, accounting for 26.8 percent of Guangzhou's total. There were 163,500 newly established enterprises in the district last year, increasing by 37.5 percent and making up 35.6 percent of the city's total.

The number of newly added enterprises above designated size in Tianhe was 1,307, up 21.5 percent and making up 17.8 percent of the city's total, while a total of 42 enterprises in the district got listed in 2021.

The district's foreign investment in actual use reached $1.26 billion, an increase of 88.2 percent.
