In the area of Guangzhou’s International Financial City, the Huijin Center, the Bank of Guangzhou and the building of Guangzhou Finance Holdings are all being turned into skyscrapers. This will be a beautiful addition to the scenery along the banks of the Pearl River. Of these buildings, many are designed by famous designers.

Recently, the eye-catching AT090927 plot project, to be built in the starting area of the financial city, has launched an international competition for obtain design plans from famous domestic and overseas design agencies as well as outstanding design teams, in order to build a new city landmark with a global vision and international standards.

The plot project is located in the “Cuidao (green island)” area where the 450-meter high super-high-rise landmark will stand.

The plot is expected to be built into a new landmark of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and act as a business complex for the financial city and a place of leisure for citizens. It is hope that the project will build Guangzhou International Financial City into a financial cooperation demonstration zone in the Greater Bay Area.

The international competition will invite at least five agencies that have been engaged in the designs of top 10 global super-high-rise buildings. Additionally, famous design agencies and designers with experience of super-high-rise building design will also participate in the competition.

Furthermore, the competition will invite academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), Pritzker Architecture Prize winners and top international experts to be professional judges in assessing the competing plans and to deliver appraisal reports.
