Guangzhou’s government recently approved a detailed plan to upgrade the core area of Tianhe Intelligence Business District (IBD), focusing on transportation and supporting infrastructure.

According to the plan, a commercial complex with a construction area of 680,000 square meters will be established to fulfill the business and public service needs of people who work and live nearby.

The city also plans to turn IBD into a traffic hub accommodating intercity transportation, a bus terminal and ICVs.

The high-tech industry, especially the intelligent connected vehicles (ICVs) industry, will be a growth priority, supported by smart infrastructure and technology firms and talents.

Tianhe IBD, a national software industrial base, is also committed to developing information technology, artificial intelligence and biomedicine as well as new energy and new materials.

Moreover, Guangzhou aims to make the core area of Tianhe IBD a livable place with parks and a scenic landscape.

Covering an area of 63 square kilometers, with a core zone of approximately 20.7 sq km, Tianhe IBD is home to about 1,950 software and information services firms and 969 high-tech companies. There are 99 research centers working on engineering technologies and 39 incubation and entrepreneurship organizations.
