Last year, Tianhe District took Central Parkview Garden in Liede Subdistrict and Favorview Palace in Wushan Subdistrict- two major gathering areas for foreigners in Guangzhou- as pilot places for construction of the first of Guangzhou's international communities. Currently, they are open to the public and provide foreigners in Guangzhou with services of cultural exchange, foreign-related affairs, job opportunities and affairs negotiation and management.

The Canton Place international community

The youngest community in Liede Subdistrict, The Canton Place international community was established in June 2010. It is home to 761 foreigners who are mainly staffs of consulates, corporate executives and football club personnel. Multilingual marks and guidance posts and support facilities for life and education make the community very international and comfortable for foreign guests.

The community has various Chinese-foreign cultural exchange activities. Every year, it holds dragon boat racing, round table meals and international food festivals in order to promote the exchange of Chinese and foreign cultures.

Since it opened in January the community has become a platform where its Chinese and foreign residents can be jointly involved in the management of community affairs and activities. Foreigners' active participation in garbage sorting and civilized way of dog ownership are two examples.

Favorview Palace international community

The Favorview Palace is a large residential community in Tianhe district of Guangzhou. At present, it has 1015 registered foreigners from 29 overseas countries and regions. They are mainly corporate executives and staffs of consulates and their relatives.

On March 15, The Favorview Palace international community service center was launched. So far, it has held four cultural activities participated in by Chinese and foreign residents.

The community also set up a foreign-related voluntary service team, which has 12 foreign volunteers. At present, they are writing bilingual brochures about community management and service that include guidance for health care, business affairs, education and visa matters to help foreigners live more convenient lives in Guangzhou.
