Coinciding with the 140th Canton Fair opens in Guangzhou, Tianhui Plaza IGC in Tianhe has launched a centralized "buy now, refund now" departure tax refund point, the first of its kind in Zhujiang New Town. The service allows overseas visitors to claim tax refunds on-site within minutes after shopping, rather than waiting until departure.

The refund point is part of Guangzhou's efforts to enhance the inbound shopping experience during the Canton Fair, which runs from Oct 15 and attracts about 340,000 overseas buyers. Refunds processed at IGC are recognized at all national departure ports, giving buyers greater flexibility in their travel plans.

More than 50 stores at IGC now offer tax-refund services for products such as premium cosmetics, fashion items, and smart electronics. From Oct 15 to Nov 4, Canton Fair attendees can also enjoy exclusive privileges by presenting their fair credentials or designated hotel room cards at the L2 customer service center.

Eligible buyers may claim refunds of up to 220,000 yuan ($32,934) per day and must complete departure formalities within 28 days.
