A new large-scale resident performance will premiere on Nov 9 at the circular theater of Guangzhou Music Park in Tianhe and run until Feb 20, 2027.

Created by the team behind the opening ceremony of the 15th National Games, the 70-minute immersive show draws on Lingnan cultural heritage, including aoyu (a mythical sea creature) and lion dances. It tells the story of a young southern lion and a one-horned lion on a journey of learning and discovery, weaving in Cantonese cultural elements such as Guangcai porcelain, gray sculpture, and fish lanterns.
The circular theater seats about 5,000 and moves beyond the traditional proscenium stage format, offering an immersive experience that aims to fill a gap in Guangzhou's mid-sized performance venues.

The production is planned as a series, with future editions exploring different Lingnan cultural themes. After the premiere season, the show will launch a national tour.
