GZFAO Updated: December 15, 2021

Recently, Guangzhou has detected two COVID-19 cases. Both patients were international travelers who had returned to Guangzhou after completing a full centralized quarantine. The details are as follows:

On Dec 13, Yuexiu district reported that an overseas traveler had tested positive during a routine health check. The patient returned to China on Nov 26, and completed the 14-day centralized quarantine outside Guangdong. The person arrived at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport on Dec 11 and was then transferred to No 65 Tiansheng Village for home quarantine.

On Dec 7, Baiyun district reported that an international inbound traveler had tested positive during home quarantine. The patient returned to China on Nov 21 and left for Guangzhou after the completion of the 14-day centralized quarantine on Dec 5. The person arrived at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport on the early morning of Dec 6 and was then transferred to Greenland Yunyang Garden for home quarantine.

In these two cases, both patients are international travelers who had returned to Guangzhou after completing the 14-day centralized quarantine and had stayed home alone for isolation after arriving in the city. They have been transferred to No 8 People's Hospital of Guangzhou for isolation and treatment immediately after their positive test results. Government departments have responded immediately to the reports and implemented COVID-19 control measures in the affected regions correspondingly.

To guard against imported COVID-19 cases, we hereby remind you of the following:

If you have recently come/returned to China from overseas and have completed the full hotel quarantine in your entry city, please practice good personal protection and maintain good personal hygiene. You should return to Guangzhou directly and avoid visiting any public venues.

You should report your arrival to your local community (village) committee in advance.

After arriving in the city, you will be transferred home directly and shall go through the "seven-day home quarantine + seven-day self-health monitoring" process. You shall also take a COVID-19 test in the hospital on the 23rd and 28th days with your quarantine documents. Such tests are free of charge.
